I really should know better. But do the same rifles in different calibers need separate FRT#'s? E.g. Xcr-L & Xcr-M ??

Wouldn't this be in the same vein as the other Jard rifle? Just in 9mm and different magwell location ??
 
It's the Canadian dollar that kills this stuff, I think.

I'd be moderately interested at the USD price of $899 at most, but with CAD exchange, plus other fees etc., I think Winstalls is being smart not pursuing these, as I could honestly imagine the CAD price being $1200 - $1300 in the end, which is just WAY too much for this sort of thing.

If its $900usd, then exchange rate alone puts this above $1200...

I wouldn't agree that Wanstalls is smart in not pursuing these, but I can certainly see how they would see it as too much work for the pay-off. Unless quite a few people buy these, its not worth paying an employee to spend their time trying to procure these. If they need an FRT# still then its even more work, and will take literally years before they reach the store shelfs, and who knows what can happen in that timeframe - Liberal gun grabs, Jard going out of business, another economic crisis...

In the long run, if these became popular then Wanstalls could make a pretty penny off of them, but in the short term it looks like a lot of effort and risk considering the expected payoff. At the price of $1200+, there are other good options for a NR 9mm carbine rifle, and this would just be another addition to that stable, not some game-changing must-have for everyone.
 
I love this. Kind of like the Hi-Point carbines, most hate 'em, owners love 'em, antis fear them ;-) I like it as a novelty range toy, but not for that kind of dough.

Oh i bet hi point carbines would be super popular if they were NR. Sadly hi point doesn't give a f*** about our market, otherwise they'd add a few inches to their barrels for us...

Edit: Maybe if a company such as Wanstalls tried to contact hi point about a special run of NR barreled carbines they might listen to you guys(or at least respond)? I know my numerous attempts have gotten nowhere...

No. They don't.

One rifle by make, brand and model gets on parent FRT.

Change the calibre, or barrel length and you get a new child frt number added to the existing parent FRT.

Colt Defence AR15a2 and the Colt Defence AR15a3 have different parent frt numbers.

The colt ar15a2 with a 16 inch barrel in 223 has a different child frt than a colt ar15a2 built with a 20 inch barrel.

Restricted barrel IWI Tar21 Tavors have the same parent frt number as NR barrel IWI Tar21 Tavors, but different hill numbers.

The Xcr-L is a different rifle than the Xcr-M. Different lowers for different mag wells. Not the same rifle. So different frt numbers. Two Xcr-L in different calibers or different barrel lengths would have the same parent frt but different child entries under that frt.
