Out to the NPRGC this morning to fire a few rounds. Ended up dumpster diving for brass. real bonanza. Cost me two hornet stings for 400 pieces of win mag/WSM and 45-70 once fired :dancingbanana:

Any way the interesting part is that I found a half box of loaded 7 rem mag missing One round. Later I found that one piece of missing brass when I picked it I thought "what kind of modern abomination has a neck that short" LOL

Pics below tell an interesting tale, middle round is the Big OOPS while a 300 win mag and 7 mm rem mag are shown for comparison. Be careful.

Had 2 friends go out to sight in their rifles. One had a 7mm Rem.Mag and the other with a .300 Win mag.The guy with the .300 started. Shot all over the place so moved into .25 yds. Still eratic as h*ll. The guy with the 7mm went to get his ammo out of the truck and couldn't get the .300 Win Mag stuff in his rifle. They were both using Remingto ammo but never checked before starting. The box of 7mm stuff sure looked like that center cartridge. Lucky the never hurt themselves. Needless to say, I don't hunt with them anymore....Ken

Same old storey everyone wants to fix a problem by continuing to fire thier rifle.

If guys would use the mkI eyeball and mKIII brain instead of the trigger finger when things go side ways lots of ammo and frustration would be saved.

That being said I have had my share dumb a** FUs!

I only seen the cases not the guy...., someone else was showing me the case trying to make a point that life was hard and even harder if you are stupid....

Now that you ask I also wonder how it was shooting ?

Then there is the guy who had a "thirty ought eight". He shot 308 ammo in his 3006, a remington 7600. Shot just fine, but cases came out looking like 444 Marlin rimless.

he did not understand the caliber of his rifle.

Heard of the 8x57 mixed up with the ammo can of 06 stuff in the M1 Garand. Buddy lived, but rifle didn't...
Saw the remains of brand new 308 stainless, synthetic jobby after some clown tried to shoot someother cartridge (can't remember what) down the pipe. That didn't work either.
But as for the dumpster diving at the range, thats how I got most of my once fired AA hulls when I first started out. The best part is the half eaten ham on rye for lunch if your real lucky.

Back when I used to do a little gunsmithing I had a guy bring me a Tikka with the bolt stuck shut. He was out of 270 ammo so he made a 7mm Mauser shell fit...
I politely handed him back his rifle and suggested that someone else should fix it.
Also had a friend run a box of 16 gauge ammo through a pump 12. Split the brass off the shells but the plastic didn't rupture.
