Hey Guys;

This weekend, I was on the St. John river with 3 friends duck hunting and I shot a very nice female mallard. When I had a look at the bird, you could see that she had been shot at before and the wounds had healed over.

I have a friend who is a vet, so I asked him about the issue and he told me that birds have very quick healing abilities! He said an injury that would take a human 2 weeks to recover from, takes a duck 3 days!!!

Pretty cool huh!

Cheers

That is neat. We must have super healing birds here because yesterday we shot a couple of ducks that crumbled and dropped like stones. Once on the water they quickly healed themselves:rolleyes: and promptly flew off. Gotta love steel shot.

Yes, that is more than likely correct. After missing a couple shots and then finally seeing one crumple and then get up and fly away can be pretty hard on the confidence.

Oh well that's hunting. I guess it means I just have to get out there and practise a whole bunch more!

Ducks don't always heal that well. Two years in a row now my dog has brought back more ducks than I have shot. I am starting to think he is possessed. I assume someone else has wounded them.
