I am sure you wouldn't be cranking out match quality rimfire ammo...but it would be an excellent way to introduce kids to the art of reloading.
When I was a boy on the farm I never had enough shells. It was so bad that my parents gave me an allowance in ammo instead of money. I got 100 rounds of that old CIL crap every two weeks - and I was in hog heaven!
About the only flaw I see in this is the gun powder. Boys are genetically hardwired to be pyros and the younger ones would have to be supervised when handling it. But as far as casting - I can't see any reason they couldn't do that on their own. I started casting roundball a couple years back and was mightily impressed with myself - and bragged all about it on Claude's black powder forum. One of the old hands gently interrupted my self-congratulation and said that he and most of his peers cast tiny lead soldiers as kids...
I can see this as being a rewarding diversion for the young aspiring rimfire shooter...
