308 has a good point Rick, and not just the stevens 200 for cheap anymore with acuracy and dependability, remington 700sps run right around $600 new and come in a pile of calibers, I havent seen a stevens yet but hear tell for the buck they have the bang, 6.5s kill dead theres no wasting ammo to find that out, my buddy still has his chopped down 6.5 my granfather helped him build when he was 14 years old, he still shoots moose and deer with it every year, in fact pm a gun nut named P17 and ask him about irvins 6.5

deer, moose and black bears dont require devises of mass destruction to die, 1 well placed shot and even a follow up once in a while does the job, balistic tables are great if your into reading but theres alot of them out there that are out to lunch 3500 ft lbs of energy to kill a moose? my 300 win mag shooting 180gr bullets only has 3500ft lbs at the muzzle, yea no thanks thats way to close for me
