gday fellas,
just wondering of you guys who have had the NECG peep sights on a Ruger #1 on which your preferences were with the Setup, ghost ring or a smaller aperture for general and hunting purposes?

did u have to change out the front bead aswell? every gun is different I know, fingers crossed I dnt need too.

I wana order a NECG peep, not sure which to go though as I see there is afew new models. half moon, full moon an the original necg peep??

its for my 303 british , I plan on using it a bit more often over the summer.

cheers

I like these even though the rear sight adjustments are a bit fiddley.
The rear sight aperture is the .125" ghostring .It's ok .
But its mounted much further away from
your eye than it would be on a bolt action, I'll have it drilled out .
The front is about .430" and needed a little filing to fit the factory dovetail.
I also installed the Trop safety. It binds a bit when operated while the rifle is held muzzle up,
but why would you ever do that.
It also allows expensive 450-400 brass to fly into the grass.

I had a NECG with a peep apperture on my Ruger 96. Personally I found the sight's body too wide and bulky and because it was sitting too far forward it covered too much of the sight picture. I ended up selling mine.

I tried the NECG sight on my Ruger No.1 but I found the thing blocky and odd looking. I swapped it out for a Skinner sight. You have to order direct from Skinner through their web site. Check them out before you choose.
The Skinner is simple, sleek and suits the No.1 very well.

I got one for my M77/44 but removed it. I like peeps but just as above nut said, too chunky, interferes with sight picture. Very sturdy and well made but I also found the adjustments are not intuitive, ok if you keep the instructions but you might go the wrong way first just trying to do minor tweak

Check it out 450-400 in Namibia
As an infrequent user of iron sights I discovered a couple of things in the hunting field.
It seems difficult for me to not perch the whole animal on top of the post sight.
I guess, subconsciously like to see the whole animal when aiming.
And I can see the front sight better without my prescription glasses (things I learned from fog) .
And it's stupid not to have a scope on a buffalo rifle.

I didn't know elephants were so fast.

Is that sight now for sale? Desperate to find one.

On my Ruger no 1 in 303 I put one of the Ruger style rear express sights and an ivory bead front sight on it and like that combo a lot.I really would like to put one of the NECG folding night front sights on it but I don’t t believe they will fit the ruger

#### i never got a necg for mine but i lost the blade.... lol
so i made a Apoxy clay V notched rear sighte an was able to adjust it until it was Zero-ed, before it Dried :)

dont ask. but boy, it works....

i also went an purchased x100 PPU 180gr loads of factory, they shoot similiar or same enough for hunting to the Speer 180gr and drawn down projie loads (.323 to .315)

shes a safe queen but it gets out fairly often still in good weather--
below hunts are with said apoxy sights :)
