Nechako Outdoors Blackjack Challenge 2026

The second annual Nechako Outdoors Blackjack Challenge will take place Saturday April 18th at the Nechako Valley Sporting Association range (3501 Quail Road, Vanderhoof BC)

200 & 300 meter steel plates, starting at 12" and down to 2"

Hit to move on to the next smaller target, scoring is on a point system (12" 1pt, 10" 2pt, 8" 3pt, 6" 4pt, 4" 5pt, 2" 6pts - hit all six targets for 21 points - BLACKJACK!) 12 shots in 2 minutes. Additional hits on the 2" target for 6 points per impact

Also, a 5 shot group for score at 300 meters on the electronic Shotmarker target

Open to all centerfire rifles, shot off a bench with a front & rear rest

33 shooters registered, didn't take long to get sold out! entry fee was $30, winner will get half the pot and the other half goes to the Nechako Valley Sporting Association for centerfire range upgrades

This event kicks of the first of five Blackjack shoots across north west BC

• Burns Lake Blackjack, June 21st 2026
• Houston Blackjack, June 28th 2026
• Kitimat Blackjack, July 10th, 11th,12th 2026

It actually reminds me how much strategy and timing matter, whether you’re dealing cards, placing bets, or just chasing that next small win that keeps the game exciting. I’ve been diving more into online play lately and stumbled across JeetCity casino for Australians while comparing platforms, and honestly it gave me a better feel for where the real value and decent bonuses are hiding. Stuff like this makes the whole gambling scene more interesting, especially when you mix skill-based games like blackjack with that unpredictable jackpot energy you get from slots or roulette. Same format as before from what I’ve seen - short time window, steel out to distance, and that “hit to move on” scoring always keeps it interesting. The 2-minute stage makes it more about staying clean under pressure than just sending rounds.
