Need 30-30 Cast load data

Wrong bullet

Ok, before anyone says anything, I see by looking at my picture that the fired bullet is not the same as the pointed one next to it.
It is still my bullet fired in my 30-06, but obviously different.
 
H4831, The one in the middle looks like a 311291, the second from the end looks like a 311413, the last one looks like a lee bullet.

My best shooting bullet happens to be the 311291 GC with IMR SR4759.

You are batting 100% on the two Lyman molds!
The shot one on the right I can't place, but it came from my shooting.
Sometimes other shooters and I exchanged bullets, so it likely came from that route.
I think the long, heavier one, is a 311284. That was also another shooters bullet that we sometimes exchanged with each other. The old Lyman Cast Bullet Book says it is accurate to 600 yards in the Krag.
I too, found the 311291 to be accurate in the 30-06, but the 413 shot very well in the Williams Fool Proof sighted 30-30.

The Lyman 311284 is the bullet I use more than any other. Casts right at 210 gr with wheelweights.

I have used it in the 30-06, the 303 Br just as it drops from the mold, and.......drum roll, trumpets, tah tah tah tata tataahhh, the 30-30!

In the 30-30 it gets 1500 fps, shoots into less than two inches with 3031, and outdigs any other bullet I have tried. :) I'll see if I can find one and post a picture.

Hi John, You are better at photoshop than I am! I put them through, just tweaking up contrast and brightness a bit, plus cropping.
I shot the bullet into the snow. Actually, I did a lot of shooting one winter at a range where I was the only shooter. In the spring when the snow went my bullets were all over the place, almost always in perfect shape. They went into the snow at a good angle to save them. Snow will save any bullet I have tried, including full loaded 270s. For purposely catching one, there should be about two feet of snow. Dig out a hole so the rifle is parallel to the snow, about half way down it. I never try to find them until the snow goes. A full power may go 6 to 8 feet in, but of course it depends on the texture of the snow. Obviously, hardened snow would damage the bullet.
 
I knew it was snow because I've done it myself. Same thing, I shot all winter, and in the spring, found I had re-usable bullets on the ground. I actually did shoot a few of the jacketed ones, and they were as good as new, on paper.

Thanks, I have 2 30-30's one pre 64 and one post. Also have plenty of unique powder, will have to give it a try.
 
Got excellent results with 10-12 grains of unique. no problem hitting 3 inch targets at 50-60 yards, had to elevate the sights a little, no big deal. A nice "bang" with zero recoil. Lots of smoky fun!
 
I'm using 3 Lyman designs for testing a new 30/30, a Browning '85 Trad. Hunter in 30/30, a 31041,311284, and 311332 all have shot well so far with 17.0grs. of 4759, usually the first powder i try when using reduced loads.
