Was given some gas checked bullets to try out. Its a scary thing just looking at it.
Placed it beside one of my 500gr Barnes .458 TSX. It sure doesn't have the sleekness
of a jacketed or even one of my postals.

With that big flat meplat and those 3 massive lube grooves, it looks like some thing a
physician would use on a rectal exam for hemorrhoids. LOL

Anyway, I'm looking for a 1500 fps load safe in my Marlin. Garret produces loads
with that velocity and bullet weight, but havent found anything close to that.

Thanks and have a great Thanksgiving.

Hi, I use a lyman mold at 520gr so my data will be close.

32gr of H4198 under a 520gr RN 457125 produces 1350 fps
Starline brass fed LR primer, 28 inch barrel
(there's room for @ 40gr of powder)
Recoil is quite managable in my 15 Lb gun, A light lever gun better have a good pad!

OAL will be max 2.55" to cycle in the marlin. I shoot a 480gn FNGC and worked up IMR3031 with large pistol primers to the neighborhood of 39gn. I don't have the exact load in front of me but work up from trap door loads until your shoulder says stop or an accuracy node is found.
