need 6.5 wsm loading data

Case capacity of a 6.5 WSSM is going to be virtually identical to the 260 Remington at 53 grains. I would use those loads as the basis of development until you find when your gun starts to show pressure.

Based on Hodgdon data, H1000, H4831sc, & H4350 all look like promising powders for a 140 grain. VV N160 may be good too. VV provides load data for the .260 Rem, but it is in an 18" barrel, so velocities are way under what it should achieve in a 26".

Edit - Ignore this. I was thinking 6.5 WSSM, not 6.5 WSM.

Sorry, you are right I based it on a WSSM (my current pet project). The WSM has about 81 grains, and the end result will be very close to the .264WM which has 82 grains. If you start at the light end of the .264WM you should be fine. Interestingly the same powders should work, although I would lean more toward the H1000. I've had two .264WM's and shot 62 grains of 4831 behind 140 grain bullets for 40 years or so. There should be lots of room for H1000 in the case.

Just one thing to be aware of. Hodgdon in their on line data center have interchanged the 140 and 160 grain loads. The listed 140 grain loads are too light, and the 160 grain loads too heavy -- to the point that if you used them you could do serious damage to your gun or yourself.

Mine should be ready in a week I plan on using 270WSM loads as a starting point. Drop back 10% and go from there.
