Need 9mm load data

Well, I'm really milking this forum for information this week.

Anyways, I gotta good deal on some 120 gr jacketed round nose bullets for my 9mm. The problem is I can't find any load data for this round.

I inspected the bullets, they are all around 122 grains in weight and .555 in length. I am going to load them with W231, can anyone recommend a starting charge and COL for this round.

I am thinking 3.8 grains starting load and a COL of 1.08".

Any thoughts? Would it be safe to go with the load data for the 124 grain round nose?

This might help re loading. Lyman 3dr edition pistol revolver book page 142

130 grain FMJ start load 231 is 3,9 grains

the bullet is sierra number 8345. max on length was 1.160..

My guess is 3.8 would be fine.

the 120 grain cast col is 1.065 start load 3 grains to max of 4.1 of 231

115 round nose fmj start load 231 4.1 to a max of 4.7 col 1.100

You'll be safe to start with 3.8gr.

As far as COL/OAL goes, you really should do some measurements for this paticular bullet and your gun's barrel; make a dummy (no primer, no powder) with say 1.160", drop into barrel and see if it hits riflings, keep seating the bullet deeper and to measure until it doesn't hit the riflings and load like that. Different bullet shapes will give you different OAL.

Also, when you settle on the OAL, make sure your gun can feed them reliably (also with dummies).
