I have it narrowed down to two a CZ452 American or the Lux version. Is the difference mainly cosmetic? Or is there more to it than that? I've heard the Lux is harder to scope because of the stock design, is this true? Who has the best prices?

Good choices :)

The lux is meant to be shot with the sights on it. The american is meant to be shot with a scope. The lux's stock design is different from the american in a way that the cheek piece and kind of whole rear of the stock is lower to account for the sites beeing lower than a scope would be.

Of course you could always put a scope on the lux but you would most likely find that your cheek would not be on the cheekpiece at all and it would be a bit hard to shoot. With the american you would have more constant cheek preassure (if shooting with scope).

If your main purpose is hunting and you are going to be hunting with a scope, go with the american. If hunting with open sights then go with lux. For target shooting I would go with the American. If you are going to be just plinking - sometimes with open sights sometimes with a scope then the lux might be a good choice.

Besides stock design and the fact that the lux has open sites on it I think they are preatty well the same. The american has a 3/8" dovetail and the rest of the CZ line has the 11mm dovetail (including the lux).

Some places to try would be wholesale sports, and russels.

Hope this helps ;)
