Need a front sight base installed on my norinco ar15

The title says it all. I'm looking for info on a gunsmith or how to do it myself. Located in Edmonton.

thanks for looking.

You tube. Normally remove flash hider, then drive out the 2 pins on the FSB then using a block of wood remove the FSB. Some people cut the FSB off because they can be a PITA. Seriously its not that hard.

You want to reinstall one that was removed?

Or you want to install one on a norc that didn't originally have one? (i don't even know if any norcs came without them)

Or you want to install a NEW one because the gas tube broke inside the FSB and you couldnt get the piece out?

Checked you tube and that was no help. With the front cap for the foregrip, the holes don't line up to drive the pins in. It's almost like I need a press to get this thing on.

I got a used barrel and a used sight and would like to install the sight on the barrel. The original owner said he removed it to put on a triangular front cap and then didn't follow through with it.

FSB are normally drilled while on the barrel. There isn't really any standard. Esp if the used barrel and FSB from a American made and your barrel is Chinese. Different standards I guess.Thats why the holes might not be lining up.

Gotcha. So getting a new, blank FSB and drilling it myself is the best bet.

No because the new holes you drill will not line up with the existing holes in the bbl. not to mention you need to drill on the side of s curved surface which is fraught with all kinds of difficulties and runs a high potential to go badly wrong. Worst case you could end up with the pin hole meeting the bore.

Clamp on gas block --- you can even modify a pined one to a bolt on (if handy)

I hope you know if you switch from a Reg hand guard to a Free float etc you have to set the gas block back a tiny bit (because you are missing the spacer/ cap)

Some gas blocks are slotted (or have a rather large hole) on the inside so as to compensate if you do or don't have a handguard cap.

But, obviously, one would have to check to make sure, like you mentioned, that you don't obstruct the gas port.

FSB is not curved where the pin goes in. A gas block yes, but not a standard A2 fsb.

OP states it's the original fsb for that barrel so it should be easy to reinstall. Is the fsb fully seated? If it's not original than I suggest taking it to a reputable gunsmith. They should be able to make it work. I had Ellwood Epps install one for me and it looks and performs great.
