Need a little help: Bipod + Choate stock - see inside for pics...

Alrighty folks, so I am looking to do something a little different. Rather than the traditional Harris/bottom mount spring 'pods.... I would like to get a set of these and mount them on my rifle:

So my question is, is there ANY way to get small picatinny rails mounted to the side of my Choate Tactical stock IF it has swivel studs on BOTH sides of the forend?

Something like this: (THIS IS NOT MY RIFLE. THIS IS A GOOGLE IMAGE I BORROWED - I HAVE THE SAME STOCK)

Note the location of the swivel type stud RIGHT above the harris bipod.

So I guess you can see my dilemma, right? There is a spot on both sides where I can mount the legs.... But I don't have rails there, I have swivel studs.

Is there an adapter? Or a way to attach rails there?

ALSO: would I be stupid in the first place, for wanting that type of bipod? I want something lower profile on my rifle than the Harris...

I suppose so.... but to me, its like the old Glock argument...sure they were the first, but since then, improvements have been made ;)

I just like the lighter design. My rifle is heavy enough as it is! LOL

I MAY just grab a harris, but I would like for n inexpensive one to pop up in the EE. I got a brand new harris S series for $25 for my last rifle off the EE!

PS ultimate... I already have two rails, so its even cheaper LOL
 
There are stud to rail adapters available from Weaver for around $25 or less. Not sure if any of the supporting dealers offer them but they are available in Canada through LeB*ron (if they actually have stock). Just google Weaver Stud to Picatinny Adapter.

Given the load that you will put through that mount, I would suggest you just drill, tap, and bolt the rails to the forend.

The forend has an alum chassis underneath so if you mount low enough, you have a solid set up.

Hahaha Its like WalMart in Florida (when I visit family). Buy some chicken, some 10W20 motor oil, and a Mossberg shotgun. Whole weekend of BBQ, Car talk and fun! :)

I will give your advice some thought, and see what option I go with...I might just get a harris as suggested...
 
This is a great thread. I am also looking into this stock and am trying to find swivel stud to 1919 rail adaptor so I can use an Accushot Atlas Bipod on it. So far all I can find is this:

The Choate stock has an alluminum channel for the swivel stud to move back and forth inside of. Not sure how all this would be put together so if anyone's got some experience here...

Yea, I was looking into those f-class style bipods made by the guys here on CGN, especially since the next batch is supposed to be black...

But it wouldn't be very useful anywhere other than the range....

I wouldn't mind a versapod with ski feet or something like that... $$$ though
 
Thanks Juanvaldez, looks like the perfect solution. I'm still curious about the dimensions of the Choate's T-rail. Nowhere in the product description does it mention the rail is made to Anschutz specs. Kinda frusterating they don't specify.

Tell me what measurements you want, and I will do that for you right now. I am working on a project to make my own home rail for it at the moment, so the gun is laying beside me :) I can measure the t-rail for you.
 
OK I just did some measurements and it goes as follows:

Choate Tactical stock for Rem 700, etc.

Mouth/Opening (so the horizontal part of the "T") is 0.516"
The aspect of the channel that is the vertical part of the "T" is 0.395" (thinner part)
The thickness of the channel inside, where the rail slides is 0.105"
