Ok so I tried this query in the hunting and sporting section and no reply so I figured I'd try in this forum and might have some luck.
Basically I'm in the market for a new silhouette rifle and I'm looking at my options. For those of you who are familiar with the sport there is a weight restriction for the complete rig which limits my choices. Every one I know uses a variant of the Remington 700 action. From what I assume this is due to the abundance of aftermarket equipment and parts available for this action.
I was looking at the Savage options myself and in particular the model 16 in stainless. I'm not opposed to a Remington system but would like to try something different. Feel in mind that I would need to use the same rifle for two classes and would need to class at 9.5lbs max.
Ok so my question is does anyone have any experience with the aforementioned Savage model 16 in .308 or any other calier beyond 6.5mm
Your honest opinion would be appreciated.

I don't own that savage but I have shot one in 300 win mag. It was a very accurate rifle im not a big savage fan so take what I say for what it is. If you plan to change the stock it's probably a great option but personally I was not a fan of the stock. I also hate there triggers where other people love them it just isn't my thing.
