Been thinking a while along the line of... "Hey, I need a new pistol!"

Seriously been contemplating S&W's M&P line, but I don't know which one to get. It would be for range plinking. I already have a 9 for IPSC, a 40 for general screwing around and a 1911. I'm set up to or already reloading for these calibers, so ammo cost is not an issue.

So, who has what? Are you happy? Would you have preferred a different model?

First one to mention I should get a Glock gets a :slap: or a :kickInTheNuts: . Glocks don't fit my hands. I've handled a M&P at the store, and it felt good :D .

I voted .45ACP just because....

But if you already have a 9mm, a .40 and a 1911 [presumably in .45ACP] then if it was me I'd consider a .357 wheelgun. Something like a S&W L frame 586/686, 6" barrel with nice patridge target sites. But then that's just me.

Or you could just get yerself another 1911 in .45ACP...... Kimber or STI?? :p

First, let me say that I really, really like my M&Ps. I had a 9mm, currently have a .40 and am contemplating getting a .45ACP. So, you should plan to get one of each, IMO. So the real question is which one first? ;) And if the price of ammo is no concern, I'd say get the .45 first.

IMO, the greatest feature of the .45 is that even the Canadian version uses a full capacity 10 round magazine. So you don't feel like you are paying full price for a gun that you cant take full advantage of. I always feel somehow ripped off when I buy a pistol that is designed around a 15 - 17 round mag and all I can use is a 10-rounder. Just my 2 cents.

Good luck with your decision! Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong with an M&P in any caliber.

Seeing as no one is really answering you original question, I'll answer 9mm.
When you get sick of it two months from now because you already have a 9mm in the safe, you'll be able to sell it quite easily.

Now to give you my opinion

S&W 629 It's big, fun to shoot, and everyone want to play with it.

X2 on a 44 Mag... you're already set up for reloading, so you could load light 44 Special level loads or full house #### eating grin full house loads.

9MM is a good choice if there are women or little girls who will be shooting your pistol, other than that bigger is better.:p:D BTW I have all 3 calibers covered as well, including 9mm for my wife to shoot....really.

How about a S&W 625, a .45 ACP wheelgun...no chasing brass and you can see the holes you put in the paper, yeah, baby!! If not, the M&P45 wil do.

The S&W 29 is THE 44 magnum. The original, the classiest... it's THE dirty harry gun, after all. All others are pretenders to the throne. I suppose the 629 is acceptable if you absolutely MUST have a stainless gun, but it's not the same
