Need a new press

Iam currently loading my pistol ammo with a Lee Turret press, problem is I shoot more than I have time to reload. Most people I talk to reccomend getting a progressive Dillon which is fine, but I have several dies for the Lee presses. Is there a difference in quality and loading time bettween the Lee pro 1000 and a Dillon.

I would go for a Hornady Lock N Load AP.

Best for your money hands down.

I moved from a Lee Pro 1000 to it at Christmass.......best move I ever made.

Try them out and find out what works best for you.... Which Dillon were you gonna compare the 1000 too?

There have been many such debates on the boards as to what is the best press, what is the best press for the money , what is the worst press... Etc. etc... I'm biased I sell Dillon Stuff.. I've owned Lee's but they weren't my first press I just never could get used to some of the things or the difference in feel... I've not touched an LNL so I can't comment

you DO know that the turret and the 1000 share a lot of the same parts- if you're mechanically inclined, you might think on this- i found the dillon time consuming compared to the auto-index of the 1000= the only caveat i have against the 1000 is that it's only a 3 hole die-head ( and of course the priming system) so if you want to do revolver, you need to do the screw/unscrew thing or get an extra turret

Check out a Lee Loadmaster. 5 hole die head, auto-indexing, case feeder all included & literally 5 minute caliber changes. Takes a little tweaking to get it set up just right, but works great once set up. Just got one in January, an am really enjoying it.

That's the problem with quick analysis: it's misleading. Only 4 of the die stations are useful. The Loadmaster isn't such a bad press - it just isn't usefully a 5-position progressive.

No you don't. Just seat/crimp in the same die. Plenty of people load handgun rounds (aka "straight-walled cartridges") in Pro 1000's in a single pass.

i was speaking of using the factory crimp die, which, in my opinion, should be used with every revolver load- i've had mine save brass that was otherwise unchamberable- for autos the 3 stage is fine, but the revolvers with their multiple chambers need a bit bit more care- but i agree with you on the loadmaster- all my station 2 does is prime- i suppose you could put a lube die/decapper at station1 and factory crimp at 5 but it's not necessary unless you're doing bottlenecks
