need a new rifle with s.africa in mind

How does your wife handle recoil? I believe the OP stated that his wife would be shooting the same rifle as well? That may present a problem. For that matter, the OP doesn't say he's shot anything larger than the .308's he owns either - the increased recoil of either a 300 mag or a 375 may be a problem. A .308 would handle any of the animals listed - if it were me, I'd take a 308 along for the wife, and buy a 375 H&H.

Thats the million dollar question if she cant handle it or not, she was able to shoot a .300wsm without issue and thats the only reason im considering a .300winmag but with a good recoil pad im hoping she would beable to take a .375h&h. The last thing I want is too be under gunned and im thinking the .375 will serve me well in a future as well.

The Sako in my picture is the most comfortable rifle I have ever shot, why? Because the guy who spent a pile of money getting that custom piece of lumber on it was probably about the same size as me and the guy who did the carving knew what he was doing...

There is a huge diffrence between a "good" fit and an excellent fit with rifle stocks, as the recoil level goes up it becomes very important that that gun dumps it's recoil energy in every way it can before it transfers it directly to your shoulder... It's preached a lot here that a gun stock has to "fit" the shooter but Untill you have fired a rifle that actually fits you it's hard to understand...

If a person is serious about hunting then start with a reasonable caliber choice for the intended game then get the rifle fit to you... Muzzle brakes and mercury reducers are the last option.

Nope sure want to though..., largest I've shots from the shoulders an 8ga punt gun with a maxed out load.. Sure wish I had bought that nitro express when I had a chance some day I'll get one.
