I don't know about MEC being made in China, maybe the casting, but, plenty of people say that about RCBS also, does anyone really think Lee wouldn't be buying Chinese castings?, FA is for sure, they admit it. It seems to be a groundless accusation, and I haven't seeen anything I'd call definitive proof by the people making those statements. MEC isn't a little outfit, the reloading tool division is what helped get them started back in the 50's, but, they do build a LOT more than reloading equipt, it does seem kind of unlikley that the castings are Chinese, it is also an employee shareholder owned company, so, kind of doubting they are using Chinese castings, and even if they were cast overseas, doesn't mean it was in China. And there are even people still making castings in the US. Do you know where all the castings in your car are made? How about the parts you buy at Napa, Cdn Tire.

Is the Forster CoAx still considered the bees knees? Pricey, but if its the best around....

Mind you I use a RCBC Partner Press, because I'm a broke ass.

The RCBS Partner is the only press I've ever had, and I bought it back in about 1990 or so. I've loaded cartridges as small as the 17hornet (which I still do) to 45-70 and 338. These days I use it to handload 17HH, 44Mag and 7mm-08. Works just fine for these and I've never felt it was inadequate. I've often toyed with getting something more "serious", but when clear-headedness returns, I can't really think of a reason why I need to. My reloading bench and set up is a fairly compact affair and so the Partner is just right for me.

It's a great little press if you don't have high volume reloading needs, which I never have.

Here's a picture of my current setup.. The Partner is the perfect size for it.

Thanks all. I don't need to do BMG or anything larger than 7.5x55 Swiss, so the ready large presses are out.
The MEC being made in China is out. Forester Co-Ax, just due to price and availability is probably out.

That 14 press shoot-out is a bit of an eye-opener. Kind of confirms my earlier suspicions and experience with the Rock Chucker - that is despite some maligning, they are really good presses (even if the way the spent primer discharge spits primers all over your gun room drives you nuts).

I'm intrigued by the Summit, but for the money and availability, I'll probably just go back to the old standby.

I now have three Rockchucker presses. Each from a different era. Why three. Well a good friend of mind passed and I ended up with his old RC. Not sure what a more expensive press than a RC Supreme would do better for any of my work for rifle cartridges up to the 338 Lapua.

Take Care

Bob

I would get the cheapest SS press I could find.

An old Pacific (there is one on EE)
An old RCBS rockchucker.

Unless you are into super serious precision loading, either will do fine

Have been using Redding Ultramag successfully for more than 10 years now... If I was looking to buy a new press, I would likely get the Forster Co-Ax, and stay away from any Frankford Arsenal product whatsoever...

Been using my Co-Ax since the early 70's; I was wondering if those copies FA co-ax M press ripoffs at around #160 USD might be an inexpensive alternative with the same advantages. From what I've heard here and there, the FA press seems to be an example of you get what you pay for. Never actually put my hands on one, however.
