Need a rifle to cover the gap between my 338LM and .22LR. What cal?

6XC is a great caliber. Norma offers factory ammo.

If you aren't hunting then the 223 would be good. My next one will be a 6.5mm (probably 260 Remington for paper punching). I hunt with a 30-30 and a 308.

Agreed! I love bang and kick that my 308 delivers. It can be a bit pricey as I don't reload (yet) but I just look at that as a throttle to balance my expectations with the wife's expectations of how often I can afford to go to the range

My first choice is 6BR. Cheaper to make and shoot lots.
My second choice is straight 284 Win. If it is windy then choose this caliber. Shoot flatter and accurate to 1,000 meters.
