I need a scope for my Rem. 597 in .22LR… I would prefer something with a 3-9 zoom and 32-40mm range.
what do you guys think of

Tasco MAG 3-9x32
Bushnell Buckhorn 3-9x32
Bushnell Sportsman 3-9x40

any other scopes I should look at? what would be the best scope for under $80? btw how much would you spend on a scope for a .22 auto?

thanks

SIR Mailorder since your easternly challanged.:D They will ship to you, and I've had nothing but great service from them. Don't skimp on a scope, your going to shoot that rifle more than anything else you own. Check their website. Good luck.

Scoping a .22 semi-auto rifle

I've got two Ruger 10/22's. One has an older Japan mfg Bushnell Banner compact 4x with duplex reticle and the other one has a new Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 1.5-4.5x32mm with the "multi-X" [duplex] reticle. Both are/were sub- $100 scopes and give good service. These two are set-up as 'plinkers' ...

That all said... I've got a NIB Bushnell Legend 5-15x40mm AO mil-dot to go on my future heavy barrel .22 rifle.... just have to decide which one it's going to be... right now it's a toss up between the Ruger 10/22 T blued with laminate stock or the Savage BV heavy barrel bolt rifle with laminate stock.

Had a Bushnell 4x fixed on my 597, but the fixed 4x just doesn't cut. I have just ordered a BANNER DUSK & DAWN · Finish - M • Power - 4 - 12x40 AO • Reticle - Multi-X. Price is $119 and have heard nothing but good things about this scope.

...Hey IM whattya doin over here your supposed to be back in rimfire forum posting results of your ammo tests!! :p
Another option for you is a Simmons .22 mag 3-9 power and 32 mm lens. Most of my low buck scopes are Bushnell and they have always done the job, but I took a chance with my Simmons and was quite impressed with it on my 597, it's relatively clear and bright and holds zero which is about all a guy can hope for with 100$ glass my friend!!!.
Purchased from wholesale sports. here is the link-http://www.wholesalesports.com/onlinestore/control/category/~category_id=10400031010636/~pcategory=10400031

Also heres a pic of my 597 with the aforementioned Simmons mounted. http://s121.photobucket.com/albums/o201/Sun_and_Steel_77/?action=view&current=DSC00189.jpg
