going out tommorow, don't know what to bring. late season moose and possibly deer. 2 feet snow, travelling on sleds. and cold. rifle will take a beating with snow and spray

3 choices
1-t3 lite stainless 338 fed, lite+tuff but sighted in for 250 max
2-ruger no1 7mag blued, big optics and heavy, but 35o-400 yds no prob
3-model 94.- need i say more

im really leaning towards mod 94, just because of snow and lack of optics.
looking for experience in these conditions as i am not used to hunting in this weather. im not anticipating animals in wide open spaces, should i be? moose and deer have heared up from what i hear.

I would take whichever rifle I was able to degrease, thoroughly. My buddy had to watch me hunt rabbits around Nipigon one winter because the firing pin in his lubed 10/22 was frozen in place.

94 is covered with self lubricating duracoat, it is dry.
glad to hear im not the only thinking mod 94 is the way. so long shots not gonna happen?

tie a condom over the barrel , snow dust does turn to ice and that would make a mess of any of them. Also a very light glove on your trigger hand helps to keep your hand from freezing to the metal .
