I've got a Browning model 71 re-done in 450 Alaskan on the way to me from Ron Smith, and need a bit of advice on fireforming brass.
The brass (348 Win) has been run through the RCBS form dies and full length resizing die, and now just needs to be fireformed to form the shoulders and final dimensions.
Any one with experiance with fireforming this particular cartridge? Should I go the cream of wheat route, or use a moderate load with a bullet loaded? Any advice would be appreciated.

You're welcome. Here's a good place to start.

I would start about 10% below these loads. You will be very impressed with the power generated by this cartridge. It is a real mitt full, to be sure!

I met Harold Johnson more than thirty years ago, while on the Kenai Peninsula. They used to make bullets for the 450 by swaging 45 ACP cases to shape and pouring them full of pure lead. :)
