So my references were called last week and from what I can tell in Ontario there is about 4-5 days of wait after that for the approval so I'm getting the itch really bad now.

When my RPAL comes in i'm buying a .22 rifle (10/22), 1911 9mm, and an AR.

The AR is giving me a lot of trouble. I have the basic concept of uppers and lowers, but I was looking at a Windham carbon and apparently that is not compatible with other AR uppers? Then I looked at the S&W M&P and I was told at my LGS that it was also not compatible with a lot of AR accessories. I am looking for an entry level AR that's worth building on to. I don't want to buy a junk AR just to have one and then need to do it all over again once I try upgrading it. I looked into building one but as I have never taking a rifle apart I decided this probably isn't the best way to learn.

Can you recommend a good entry level AR around the $1000 mark?

I`m pretty new to the AR thing myself (I can see that changing soon !) but I just bought the CORE AR15/M4 from Wanstalls and could not be happier and the rifle comes with a great warranty to boot.

That Stag looks like another beauty.

There are some fins ARs out there in the $1000 -1200 range.I`m looking for another for a near future purchase.

If you are in Ontario before you get yourself all work up on buying your restricted, I would start shopping for a gun club first.

There is supposed to be a run of bushmaster entry carbines for under $1000 coming soon. I would wait for one of those.

Did gravel say they were coming in under 1k? Last I saw it was just members saying their hoping to be under 1k

Core, stag, Windham weaponry, DPMS. I'd recommend saving up 400 more and buying a used Daniel defense off of the EE though.
Please don't do norinco.. The other options for a couple hundred more are much better.

Ruger has come out with a new direct impingement AR 15 a LOT cheaper than their piston driven model - $749 USD. That puts it in the same league as other direct impingement carbines.

Look for it to hit the market soon.

Dude, my advice would be to stick to purchasing the first three of your four choices and stay away from the AR platform for now. AR addiction is a serious problem with many downsides and very few support groups to help you get out of the hole. Heroin and cigarettes are nothing in comparison to the hold this so called "interest" can have on you. Unless you have an understanding family and lots of money, please stay away from the AR beast. She is an unforgiving ##### and will own your soul.

1000$ will get you a nice windham weaponry ar15 right now with a few bux left over. I'd just bite the bullet and get a DD instead of puting upgrades on just get a complete package from daniel defence

Hey

So I got approved today. I called the CFO to see if they'd give me my number and expiry to start the transfer of a restricted and they said no problem...

SOOOOO I contacted Armseast and ordered a STAG with the new Diamondhead VRS rails.

Thanks for all the advice and help!!!
