Hi I was jst curious I just bought a 512 A65 Eotech and know would like to install it on my LMT. My question is what would be the best way to install it and still keep my iron sights for back up? I've seen a.r.m.s #54 and leeeper which both have raised the Eotech and have the open base so you can still use your iron sights and I've also seen the fold down sight? Could someone please direct me in the best way I want to do it right! Thank you

Hey Paulinski Thanks for the advice! You've always been a great help on this thread! What do think of the A.R.M.S #54 mount? Some guys say you want to keep the the eotech as low as possible? but the A.R.M.S #54 is a little high? What are the Pros & Cons?

establishing a lower 1/3 co-witness is ideal for those who have an issue with the front sight base being in their field of view. If you have no issues with the FSB then I would suggest mounting the optic directly to the receiver. Minimizing your offset(difference between your barrel and your line of sight) will help in making hits at closer range, especially on smaller targets.

When using your EoTech you should be focusing on the target, not the reticle. Keep both eyes open and look through the reticle. If you do this, the so called "fuzzing" of the reticle disappears and the FSB becomes a non issue.

I put mine directly on the flat top's rail and I replaced the knurled knob by the GG&G throw lever. I can easily co-witness irons and get it on and off.

I guess it really depends on what you want. If you have a fixed FSB ( vs a folding front sight ) you may not want the irons right on the EOTECH's recitcle

I personally don't like this, as do many others ( you need to try both ). If you want the irons right on the eotecs recticle then just mount on flat top

There are a ton of options for risers. They pretty well all raise the EOTECH 1/4 which is ideal because it puts the irons in the 1/3 lower cowitness. I personally don't like th irons obscuring the EOTECH recticle

You have the Larue LT-110 ( 1/4" ), the RRA Dominator ( has fixed A2 style rear sight ), the Yankee Hill ( raises .300" and pretty inexpensive ). The ARMS 54 is too high IMO ( over 1" )

I would go Larue

Here is a pic. Sorry its not a complete rifle but you get the idea

The Yankee Hill riser isn't very good, quite honestly...I could never get it to stay put.
The best riser I used was the LaRue LT110 mount. Absolutely brilliant.
Don't worry so much about "co-witnessing"....it's over-rated AFAIK. Just fold down your BUIS (front and rear) and forget about them until you need them. That'll be when your dot dies, so what good is co-witnessing?

co witness with an aimpoint is nice though... the big ring on the other hand.:runaway:

An absolute co-witness does not require the operator to change their cheek weld/head position to transition from one sight system to the other. A lower 1/3 co-witness requires a slight change. Most who use lower 1/3 do it for the greater unobstructed view.

If you want a rifle that works without fail, don't run as blocks that aren't pinned on. That pretty much leaves you with the factory gas block. Either intact, or shaved down to a low profile. Clamped or set screw mounted gas blocks can and will work loose under heavy use. Not to mention the fixed FSB has fewer moving parts and is far more robust than folding sights.
