Just a question if anyone can help .

I ordered some powder for my 300 win mag ( IMR 4831 ) .

My wife went on a road trip so i asked her to pic it up for me .

When she got home today , i checked out my box of supplies , i was given 2lbs of IMR 3031 instead or the 4831 :( .

I cant send it back, to drive there and back its about 9 or 10 hours so here's the question.

Can or has anyone used 3031 in 6.5 Creedmoor or 308 so at least i could use it on either of these ? If so , can someone give me some starting loads for either ?

Im using mostly140g bullets in the 6.5 Creedmoor and 150g or 155g bullets in the 308 .

Thanks in advance for any help .

It will make very accurate 308 ammo. A longtime favourite and common match load was 39 gr 3031 under a 168gr Match.

It is too fast for good Creed loads, but will make good 100 gr plinkers. Try 31 gr.

I used 3031 a my preferred powder in .308 for years. It's a good pairing with 150 gr. bullets. I achieved 2800 fps and good accuracy with approx 44 gr. in several rifles. Your exact load will vary with your chamber and bore dimensions, cases and primers and bullets used.
