Need alittle help

I am looking for images of the correct way a rifle and helmet would be placed in the ground for ww2 burial detail for the Canadian forces.

I have found this as a rough idea.

But am wondering about the sling as well. Would it be left on the rifle? And if so would it be drawn tight?

Not too sure is there is such a thing, as a corret way to use a weapon as a head stone. I'm guessing the helmet and rifle thing, is just a "jerry rig" by the boys in the field, at the time, and I doubt it's offical in anyway....
