Well, at long last Grand Power K100s will be hitting US gun stores in about 3 months(or so, finally). But nobody down here has had one to know much about them.

I have my name and deposit down with STI and their affiliate FFL to get one of the very first. (STI is modifying the first versions with trigger jobs, etc. and calling the 1st ones the "GP6" temporarily)

My question for you guys who have experience using them is.....is it "ammo particular" or "sensitive"?

In other words what make and grain 9mm ammo do they "like" and use the best(if there are some that it feeds and fires optimally and problem free....or, any in particular that it "does not like", please.

I truly would appreciate your experienced advice, please.

thank you

Awesome, Redleg !

I know even some other really great pistols have "peculiarities" and issues with some ammo grain and brand. I'm truly glad that will not be the case with this Fine pistol.

But this will be my only 9mm (all my others are .40 cal.) so I'm not that familar with 9s. What is the best grain weight for dependable accuracy and "moderate" recoil in 9mm?

Or the "most used" grain rating FMJ in them for range practicing.....and which for self defence rounds also?

There is no substantial recoil with any weight of 9mm projectile. Accuracy is a function of the shooter, not the firearm. Projectile weight plays a near vacant role in your ability to hit the target. Defensive loads typically come in 124 and 147 grain loads. Again, projectile design is less of a factor with regards to accuracy and/or target incapacitation. Shot placement is the most important factor from a defensive standpoint.

This is not directed towards you daddySEAL. A pistol that will reliably feed, fire, and eject only certain brands, weights, or styles of ammunition is a piece of junk. The exception to this would be wadcutter, or semi-wadcutter/truncated cone. All quality handguns should be able to feed ball ammo of any pedigree.

The only thing mine didn't like was a 130 grn lead round nose hand load. The PF was fine, it didn't like feeding the lead. Copper plated, no probs, lead.......problems.

The gun seems to be built around hot Euro spec ammo so that's what I'd run in it if it came to serious purposes, although i've never had a malfunction with any kind of factory ammo.

Only problem I had was with reloads with lead bullets. Wouldn't group, centre of group was Low & Left. Maybe too soft lead?? Best results with factory Remington Leadless 115Gr. Also reloads with Remington 115Gr. Jacketed bullets over Hodgens Titegroup powder were good. Not much difference with heavier bullets AIRC.

Thanks Guys,
The reason I asked about grain load in the ammo, is because I have ALL .40 Cal. pistols...many of great reputation and quality...and I've experience both occasional FTE and FTF jams in them when I switched from 180 grain to 165 grain factory Winchester ammo.

And these were some of my favorite quality guns....Subcompact Sig P239 and Standard size Baby Desert Eagle to name a couple (it seems there were 2 other good brands that did it too). And it REALLY bothered me to see happen after being flawless 100% with 180 grain .40 Cal. factory ammo.

The K100 will be the only 9mm I have ever bought....just wondered if it might "prefer" heavier loads too....before I go and get about 1000 rounds(to save for future ammo price increases.

(I haven't begun to reload .40 or anything just yet.....just wait for a place to do it, and studing the manuals repeatedly)
