need an affordable high-power scope for a 22LR

If you are willing to spend a bit more, I have a Vortex Viper 6.5-20X50 and it has great glass for about $520. It is Japanese glass, assembled in the Phillipines. I love mine, it has a few different reticle options, with the wide V Plex probably the best suited for your needs. If you are ever in Kingston, look me up and you can try it out.

A Sightron fixed power sounds like it would fit all three of the those criteria the best. I've had three Sightoron and am loving my current SIII 8-32x56 on my 223.

1) Affordable
2) High power
3) Good quality

Pick any 2!!!

ya, i'm thinking so as well. only thing to decide now is the reticle i want to have (center-dot or mil-dots or duplex or something else...)

I found the mil dots pretty large, the SIII is an FCH and it's pretty nuce for punching paper. If I were to get a mil reticle, it would need to be hashmarks not dots.

i'm drooling over a Vortex Viper PST FFP alphabet soup scope now (and other similar beasts). at least going by the descriptions. wrong price bracket, though! :p but maybe i can pawn off a kidney or two...

Beautiful scope for sure, but I don't think you will need or want the FFP version. The FFP reticle will grow in size and thickness as you dial up the magnification which I think would not be desireable for your stated application. I have the 4-16X50 PST in the second focal plane and it is a sweet heart! I am going to the range come hell or high water this Sunday to try it out for the first time.

PM inbound.

i have a bushell legend 5-15x40AO on my 222.not an elite by any means by it has pretty good glass can be focused down to 10 yards.holds zero really well.got it at walmart for around 275 bucks taxes in.they have stopped making this particular model of scope but if you can find one could be worth a look.
