need an honest opinion on sks d

Wow D was only 200 bucks in 04? Man I got into this too late haha

I don't see a huge quality difference between my D and my regular Norc SKS

Does the D have a different type of barrel? Because with the regular Norc SKS it can hit 4/5 skeets at about 100 yards consistantly, probably better in experienced hands.

What type of scope mount did you use? I don't see how a drill/tap scope mount could lose zero that fast.

That's a crazy price for a D. I wouldn't spend that on any sks. I found the D to be just a cheap imitation of something or another (as an original sks never had a removeable mag) and not of high quality. Everything was loose and after awhile, the fun factor wore off. Sold it and bought an AR and kept my other sks. The whole idea of the sks is a cheap semi that shoots cheap ammo

I have an old original Russian,Norinco(Dragunov stock) and a Chinese SKS-D.
The SKS-D is the most fun and very reliable, get some 35round mags, it really becomes fun. I agree that $500.00 is high but I've seen them go for $400.00. It all depends on the accessories?.

The only reason I would buy a D is to transform it into an AK-47 clone.

I'd say wait for the russians, or get a yugo. They are built like tanks and will never let you down. Just keep the firing pin clean, or get a new spring loaded one.
Other than that, they are tough as granite.

I think 500 is to much to pay as well! I paid 300 for my sks-d , I was also under the impression that the sks-d was only a chinese made rifle , never heard of a russian one! There is nothing wrong with the norinco sks I have 2 of them and have never had any problems with them , i would recommed a regular sks , they are cheaper and you can find them anywhere . The only difference is the detachable mag and honestly you can only fit 5 rounds into either model , but i guess some people like the look of the 30 round mag haha!
