Need An Opinion On A Tikka Stainless Varmint In 260 Remington

Strange.

I left an e-mail Thursday night with details about some stuff.

Got a reply Friday night (after talking to Jason at Epps with rifle on order) saying they were sold out.

I did get mine at $699. If not, I wouldn't have purchased at this time.

Now in another thread I am looking to get some dies.

What are you guys doing for scope base and rings? Gotta look into that...............

I wouldn’t have purchase mine either if it wasn’t for the reduced price of $699. I purchased Redding dies from EE a little while back for another rifle in the 260. As for a scope base and rings , I’m not sure but I know they wont be Optilok...

Wow good price. I was going to suggest going with the 6.5x55 since it uses a long action anyway but if the deal was only on the .260 than I would have jumped on it as well.

I prefer the look of the Super Varmint but I don't think that an adjustable cheek piece and a 0 MOA picatinny rail justify a price jump of $500-600.

Cyber K has a rail set up for a scope.

EGW base 20MOA for $49.

What benefits are there with the EGW base other then 20MOA. Would this base be used for shooting at distances over 500 yards. As you probably can tell, I’m not much on shooting long distance. I would however like to us my 260 for 500 yards or less...

Well, it's typical tikka. Cheap plastic stock, rough metal finish, plastic bits and all. I'll never understand why some folks get all weepy and emotional about how great they are; the just aren't all that. Though for the price I'm happy with mine. We'll have to see how well it shoots now :)

Tikka

I have a Tikka T3 stainless varmint rifle and love it! One of the smoothest actions you will ever use. Acccuracy is awesome, buy this rifle with no regrets and you will be happy with it.

Guess I bought it for the caliber. And the accuracy.

Pride gets in the way. Especially, when you might have to admit making a mistake.
