The young fellow hanging around here likes the outdoors and fishing, camping and especially hunting. His grandpa wanted his rifle back that he lent him. To encourage the return, the old chap bought his grandson a new rifle. :p
It is one of those Savage 111 with the elcheapo Bushnell 3x9x40. Just getting it dialed in, less than a dozen shots fired, the reticle and ring it is mounted in slipped and turned. If you tap the scope, it will continue to move.
He and his grandpa went back to the dealer and was hoping for a return, credit or some sort of upbeat advice. They offered only to send it in and of course there is the ten plus ten dollar charge.
So here we are........:(
Is it worth the twenty dollars to send this scope away or just toss it and move up to something better?
I don't know the model number as the numbers are under the scope and one would have to remove it. I don't have access at this time to this rifle or scope.
Who in their right mind would put such a pos scope on a high recoiled rifle?V:I:

Caliber is the famous 30-06.
Any suggestions on what to do with this scope or what not to do with it?
Thanks nutzzz...........Looky.

If its worth $20 to him to have a scope worthy of mounting on a 22 then he should send it in for replacement. Imagine the disappointment if that problem showed up on a hunting trip he waited all year for.

+1 Repair it and mount it on a rimfire. Its only a $50 scope anyway, get something better for the 30-06 maybe a redfield, decent glass for under $200. My buddy just got one of those cheap package bushnells with his .243 thats holding up right now but no where the recoil of a 30-06.

i actually bought one of those .270 savage 111 kit guns with a (pos) simmons scope. the scope was all over the place ( i aimed for the heart and shot him in the spine, and this was after scoping it in the previous day....again). i put a 3200 bushnell on it, and lightened the trigger pull ( that made a big difference too ). at 124m i can cover a 3 group shot with a loonie. love the gun, scope was crap! i put the simmons scope on my .22

My thoughts exactly. Cheap scopes are nothing but trouble.

OP, tell them to get a Redfield, Nikon ProStaff or Elite 3200. They should all be around the $200-$250 mark and will work much better than the el cheapo scope on it right now.

Thanks for the replies Nutz. There is a new 3200 Elite on the counter waiting for the young chap when he comes about. Maybe this weekend we'll git it on for him.
Thanks Kim for the scope by the way.
Cheers.
