Need an opinion: Platform for mods 45acp... (replacing my Nork)

Well, to be honest, I gave the 1911 to my wife, who promptly used it as trade fodder with a store for an XD9.

I mean, I guess I did get paid, with ###ual favours... No offence, but I doubt you're as good as my wife!

;)

That's not what the guys at the firehouse say... OH sh*t...wrong forum.

LOL kidding.

Well as long as she got a nicely working gun in return for it, and she's shooting right beside you, then I'd take that any day over keeping some non-functioning 1911.

I had Joe Dlask do up my Norinco. Gun is fantastic. Will I ever get my money out of it. Not likely. Do I care. Not one bit. The only downside to the Norinco is you can't take them into the US to compete with. That aside they make great platforms to build on. That said they aren't all that bad out of the box. I have a plain Jane one I carry for Bear protection.

Was looking at a Norc but ended up with this, at $575 I can shoot it for two years and sell it for more:

I have been looking at those as a replacement for my Nork actually.

I wanted the 45acp full size, with the tactical rail. Maybe someone would trade me? My nork with the stock barrel + cash for a Taurus.

Also, @ Canuck 44..... you carry one for bear protection? You're allowed to CARRY one? HOW? I want to carry my gun at my buddies cottage; he's got a bunch of big 'ol bears there.

Its a lot more accurate than I thought it would be, especially being my first .45

Well, judging by your sig, you've got an arsenal at your disposal lol.

I only have the 1911, and a CZ858. I want to get my hands on a precision 300 WINMAG calibered rifle. Then I'll be happy.... until I see a nice shotgun for sale lol.

I will see. I am leaning towards keeping the Nork....but I would like to have some value to go with it, in case I ever wanted to change.. The Taurus seems to do that.

reason I bought the Taurus is on paper it seems to have more features that a $1700 Kimber, and considering I would shoot maybe 50-100 rounds month because .45 acp is pricey and tough to find, it will probably last me 20 years lol

Move to BC, get a Free Miners License, apply for a wilderness permit and away you go OR if you live in an area populated by bears either carry bear spray and know how to use it or carry a shotgun or handgun. If bear attacks or encounters were frequent where I lived or hiked I know what I would do. Your call.

This what Armco did on Mine, They remove all Markings, Norinco, Made in China, Tuned Extractor,Made Slide-Frame Move like glass, Replaced all my springs with Wolf Springs ( 18.5 recoil spring), Replaced barrel bushing with a Tight one, Set trigger at a even 5lbs, Replaced main spring housing with a flat 1911 original ( My request), then Parkerized Pistol, I now have a total of 3100 rds out of Pistol... 230 gr Ball... NO STOPPAGES....The only markings on Pistol is the serial number, which just by luck is the same as a 1943 made Colt 1911

I have a few hundred sitting in my closet :p

I would assume the Taurus is an often overlooked piece, that is quite good!
