Need AR15 barrel thread specs

Does anyone have a CAD type drawing of the threaded (muzzle) end of an AR15 barrel (where the flash hider would thread on). Machine shop doesn't want to do it unless they know the exact length of the threaded part, taper or not on the flat part, etc. And if you know the thread specs post them too.

No CAD drawing unfortunately, but I do have calipers...

I pulled the flash hider off my 14.5" Bushy H-barrel upper for you, and it looks like 0.615" from the (flat) crown to the shoulder where the crush washer sits. The threads are cut to within 0.085" of said shoulder. There appears to be zero taper and the diameter post thread (by the shoulder) is 0.590. It probably started as 0.590 and then was threaded.

The thread you are looking for is 1/2" x 28 NEF (extra fine) which is not a very commonly used thread pitch. A machine shop should have no problem cutting it for you though. KBC Tools stocks both taps and dies in that size if it is an issue.

You might have more problems than you think. A machine shop, although more than qualified for the task, can not touch ANY part of a firearm without a Gunsmith Licence! I am quite suprised actually that they have even agreed to touch the thing!

Was told by the CFO that as long as they don't alter barrel length, action function, etc, they were good to go.
Machine shop owner has his PAL.
You'd be surprised what they have done/will do :D.

Cool, but the CFO is a wee bit incorrect. I would suggest that you ask him to put that on paper for you I bet you he will not!!

Where is this from? Anyone can touch any part of a firearm. The receiver would need to be controlled by someone with an appropriate PAL. Altering caliber, barrel length or classification requires notification of the CFC. Parts not attached to the receiver are just parts.
