Need Barrel Dimensions C8 SFW

I hear ya. But, if you wanted to mount a HK launcher, what is the diameter of the fattest band on the barrel in question (or the fattest part of the G36 barrel).

Not (necessarily) talking about re-profiling a 16" HBAR, or matching the look of the C8SFW, just want the diameter of the fattest part and figured that was the easiest way to ask.
Cheers!

Now ya kind of lost me:confused:

Are you wanting to mount an HK 40mm launcher on a C8 SFW barrel? If so, they attach via the bayonet leg. And if you are wondering if they fit, the bigger question is, how do you get ahold of a C8 16" SFW barrel? They are probably harder to get, than the HK launcher.

Or are you intending to mount the HK launcher on a G36?

The L119A1 has a custom manufactured solid base front sight assembly which was designed for use with the H&K AG-C. The AG-C attaches to the lower rail of the RAS and locks into the bayonet lug. Knights custom made lower rails for the SAS contract.

Here's a picture of the SAS contract lower rail.

It attaches to the barrel nut instead of the delta ring.

I've handled one, the steps on the barrel were part of the barrel, not a sleeve as I recall. The diameter of the barrel at the muzzle end is the same diameter as the largest diameter of the flash hider, I reckon. Certainly not much difference.

The Paras and the Royal Marines use the plastic carry handle on their C7s that Koldt shows in his pictures.

The real problem you'll have mimicking an SFW barrel is the front sight, as it has a solid base.

I was wondering how they fit. Does it matter then carbine vs midlength gas system?

Thanks, BTW.

The SFW barrel is designed for use with Diemaco's bastard M203 mount that no sensible person would ever use, IMO:

BTW, I've never had a problem with my Thermold magazines, I think they're really good.

Oops, yes the carry handle isn't plastic. When you say "sleeve" do you mean something removal because it seemed pretty solid as I recall.

Anyway I personally wouldn't bother unless for some bizarre reason you have a Diemaco M203 mount.

The "sleeve" is similar in installation as a barrel liner/sleeve. Heat and cool method. Not really a quick removal, but not a machined part of the barrel.

Ya, there is no need for it unless you've got that goofy Diemaco 203 mount..
Why did they take something that works, and "improve" it? Should have left well enough alone. Everything else is identical as the Colt manufactured M203. They even have the appropriate contour of the 203 receiver so as to match up with the front portion of the lower receiver push pin area, but of course it's not needed because the D 203 is mounted so low as to not matter.

Don't get me wrong, if I could get my mitts on one;) , I'd take it in a heart beat, but they should have stayed with what was working.

Same as the M4 barrel. They already had a working template. No need for this barrel.

At least all this is in my esteemed opinion:rolleyes: :D
