Hi,

MY friend and co-worker owns a beautiful Eduard-Kettner over and under combo rifle/shotgun. The buttstock is cracked at the pistol grip area. He'd like to replace it. Anyone have any ideas as to where he could get one or have one made?

We're in rural Nova Scotia and I don't know of anyone making custom made stocks in the area.

Any help is appreciated.

thanks,
Adrian

Your best bet is to contact a shop that has a stock duplicator, would be a bit cheaper than a full custom stock.Buy a copy of Canadas Access to Firearms there is a shop in there offering stock duplicating services.

Most stocks can be repaired, finding someone to do a good job is another matter, the fellow who used to do it around here has since passed on. I'm sure someone knows a talented stock repair shop here on CGN.

If it's a very nice gun it might be worth worth sending it to one of the high end stock makers such as Klaus Hiptmayer in Quebec. That won't come cheap, but good german combo guns aren't cheap either.

That said, Kettner is a retailer who has sold guns of various makes under their own name. If you can find out the exact model of the gun it may be able to track down a stock. If you can find a stock, having one sent from Europe is simple and may be cheaper than having a new stock made.

For interest sake here is the website for Kettner's German division (They are also in Austria):

And here is a used Kettner BBF made by Betinsolli:

Hey Canadaboy, that link to the BBF by bettinsoli; that's the gun that my buddy has. I'll check it out and see if I can find some contact info for them.

My buddy who owns the gun was thinking about a shop with a duplicator could fix him up a nex stock, but we don't know of any. So if anyone has any shops they know of that can do the work, let me know.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Here's the bettinsoli site if you're looking,

Good luck with the stock.

It seems like too many people hunt with combo guns here in Nova Scotia, your friend's is one of a handful that I know of. After seeing a few nice combos that were brought over by German immigrants, I realized just how handy they can be and bought a nice used Kreighoff 12gauge/ 30-06 combo. Unfortunately mine isn't here yet as export paperwork seems to take a while in Germany, I'm just hoping it gets here before deer season ends.

I'm not that familiar with them. This friend of mine is a German Immigrant and he bought the gun from his father. It's gorgeous! The workmanship is amazing. It's a 7X65R with a 12 gauge above and he has a second barrel that is over and under 12 gauge.

It has a really unique system for mounting the scope. A band around the objective lens end with a post and in the middle of the scope that is the rear mount that clips into a piece mounted on top of the receiver. He has a nice quality German scope on it that's 8.5 power and has a 56mm objective lens! You can practically see in the dark with it, which is because in Germany apparently you can hunt after dark.
