Hello,
Im looking for a .223 to use as a coyote gun. It wont be a everyday gun more like a take out 1-2 times a month and hopefully take a couple coyotes a year with it type of gun. But i want it to work when i do go to use it. Im not looking to spend a bunch. At wholesale sports Im looking at item #296664 just not confident if it comes with a scope. Under features it says its drilled and tapped for a scope and then if you go to product details it says a scope is not included in the youth gun. I dont want the youth gun but if i change the selection to standard the price does not change. Shouldnt the 2 be different prices or am I just thinking wayyyyyyy to much about this? And if its got the scope for the price shown would this gun fill my needs?
Thanks.

wholesale is till running their boxing week sale

buy a savage axis in 223 and throw a redfield or nikon scope on there.

coyotes will hate it.

the scopes in those package deals are junk and almost always install poorly.

buy the pieces seperately IMO

The way I read the ad it does come with a 3-9 scope, rings, bases.

For 250 I doubt you'll find anything cheaper. If you search under, "hunting and sporting arms" for, "axis" you'll find lot's of threads/comments. My advice would be to only listen to those who actually state they HAVE one and completely ignore the rest. If you're then happy I'd suggest go to wholesale, shoulder the gun and if it feels right, have at'er.

It's easy to say, "for a bit more". If you do that though you're double the price before you start. I just bought a stevens for 350, Weaver rings/bases say another 30, add a redfield scope and we're at 500 bucks +-. Maybe a step up, but also double the price. That's a lot of .223 rounds. :)

don't go by their item number either. I called in about a gun with the item number, they said they had 5 left, i got there, and he went and grabbed the item number and it was the right gun but wrong color. When we got looking for the right color they had none in stock. (from what i read about wholesale thats the going thing). good luck.

The Axis 223 package is a great gun especially for the money. The scope is not that bad and seems to work pretty good on the smaller caliber. Same scope on the larger calibers may not hold up. Definitely nothing wrong with upgrading the scope especially to gain some magnification. My buddy just bought one on sale(Cabela's matched Wholesale) for $259-pretty tough to beat.

Scope worked fin on my 30-06. works fine on my 223 as well. No need for a better scope rings or bases. Only reason I changed the scope on my 30-06 is because I wanted more zoom

I've got the Axis as well and so far I'm happy with it. The finish isn't pretty, and the trigger is crappy, but my first attemp at grouping yielded about 7/8 inch 5 rounds at 100yrds with factory ammo and the scope it came with. I have no idea if it'll do it all the time, but it sure impressed me. That's far more accuracy than you would actually need. As for the trigger, I did a little googling and lightened it fairly easily and smoothed it out considerably. It still isn't a target trigger but it should do the trick for hunting. Besides, for 250-ish with a cheap scope, you can't go wrong.

Did you check Cabelas Canada? I usually prefer to deal with them over Wholesale as they have never screwed up my order from their website. I have always goten exactly what I ordered from them.
