Need FRT for Russian Medved

I've located one German dude that has mint Russian Medved (still in original box) and is willing to sell/export to to me. The only thing is funny is that his rifle is chambered in 7.62x54R while on official site manufacturer only mentioned .308Win

Can you guys confirm that this model is OK to import? I'll appreciate if somebody can PM me a FRT number for this model.
I'm almost 100% sure that I've seen Medved for sale when we still had importer of all Russian toys (sorry, I do not even remember their name anymore).

im pretty sure its running of a Dragunov system thats why we got the Berkut and not the Medved when Rusarm was in business, ill take a pretty good guess and say its prohib, but im not 100%
 
If your serious I'd get your info from the CFC as I'm sure they will know if there are any FRT for this Rifle or not.
 
Medved is not listed under AK-47 or variant on the prohib list. They are not a new rifle and were around long before C68. They were considerably different from the SVD to have been sold to civilian hunters in Soviet times.

I'm as serious as one can be. the only similarity between Medved and SVD is that Merved accepts SVD magazines. Everything else is different there.
This gun was available on Russian market of civilian weapons since 70th and I'm almost 100% sure that I've seen it in Canada and it was non-restricted.
Nevertheless, I need FRT to make sure that I'm not going to be shown on national TV in headline news. :)
 
Medved is still in the product catalogue of Izhmash, but I guess it is not in regular production (people are buying the Tigr/civilian SVD instead). I hope someone places an order and imports them here in the nearfuture (if they are legal).

Well i found it in the FRT after all. (with a little help)
It is listed as
Make: Baikal
Model: Medved
Manufacturer: Izhevsky Mekhanichesky Zavod
shows calibers as .308 win and 7.62X54R
Legal calssification: Non-restricted
barrel length 551mm

Hope that answers your question. it does have an FRT number and it is listed as NON-restricted.
 
I've got FRT and confirmed with CFO - it is non restricted and is OK to import.
Apparently, there was few modifications of Medved's rifle and there is a version that accepts SVD magazine. I'm actually now trying to figure out which version I'm getting. :) If it is the one that accepts SVD 10rd magz I'll have to make sure that guy actually pins it to 5rd before he ships it to me.
Heh, I really hope it is worth all the hassle.
