Need Fudd Scope

Red dots, notorious for not working in low light

If helping him getting a scope and sighting it in keeps a deer from getting wounded it is more of a moral victory than the pride you will get from not helping him because he’s not a “good hunter”

A modern cheap bushnell beats any old scope…

Definitely not a red dot. I ditched the red dot off my Barnett when it cost me a shot on a nice 7 point once. Couldn't see, so I couldn't take the shot in legal hours.

Wish prism scopes intended for hunting would get made, but eye relief will always be an issue with the design

If you are going to beat them to death with the scope, I would go with a 30mm tube and a 50mm or larger objective... should have more length and weight to increase the arc of your swing and the kinetic energy at impact. I think one good smack with this scope will do less damage than pelting it repeatedly with an Ultralight straight tube 2.5X... JMO.

Low light capabilities of one scope to another are very over rated... that low light hunting situation lasts about 10 minutes... it shouldn't really matter to this guy and this rifle...

^ finally a dose of reality

This guy needs something with crosshairs, tight mounts and a new pair of glasses. And to know his limits but that seems unlikely to happen

Was the title of this thread always "Fudd-friendly?" My eyesight is getting worse... I read it "Fur-friendly scope" when I posted the above... sheesh.

Leupold VX-Freedom in 2-7 X 33 would be a good choice. That one mentioned in EE sounds ideal. On 2X he’ll have a 15mm exit pupil; hard to mess that up. Of course that’s assuming the scope is sighted in, and it sounds like that’s not a given.
