Need help / a answer quick! Mossberg 500 action release

ok so long and the short of it is as follows.

I have the chance to buy a 7+1 model 500

The guy is selling it for 350. He told me the only issue he has had is the action release sometimes doesn't disengage when dry firing?
Meaning...you pump the Shotgun...you pull the trigger...and you can't repump. The small action release tab beside the trigger stays out as it doesnt disengage...What causes this ? He has to push the button in then repeat.

You should be able to pump....pull trigger for it to dry fire.....then recycle again.

He said there has been no issue live firing with real Ammunition only during dry fire it does this. He said his friend mentioned if you dry fire a shotgun alot this occurs?? Please give me some advice or feedback so I know if this is worth purchasing to fix or if its a bigger issue at hand?

I had a Mossberg 500 that did that but it would happen during live fire too. Basically would have to push in the slide release when it would happen, which was intermittently. I tried cleaning it and playing around with it and eventually had to send it in for warranty work.

I have 3 identical Mossbergs and only one did this. The others have been machines that have taken thousands of rounds. Finally the shotgun was repaired, sent back to me and now it works properly.
 
It is an issue with the action lock disconnector spring in the trigger guard. Small part and maybe a few more. With the border shut parts could be hard to find. A smith should be able to fix this fast and not for too much money.

Grech Outdoors does Mossberg warranty in Canada and they take a looong time. And they wouldn't just sell me the parts to install myself. I even considered buying a a trigger assembly from Brownells to avoid Grech but it was half the price of whole new gun. This shotgun had this affliction pretty much from the day I got it. The other two identical ones have been dry fired literally thousands of times and they have no such issue.

My advice would be to find another shotgun to buy or get your buddy to get it fixed under warranty before you buy it. If it is happening when he dry fires then it will start to happen with shells in the chamber.

This. The mossy 500 is a relatively easy action to take a part and put back together. As was said earlier, get some dummy rounds. I Have an old 500 that I stripped and reassembled quite easily, Have had no issues and use Tipton dummy rounds for dry firing etc.
 
The issue has nothing to do with dry firing it is a inherent problem with the 500 we have 3 or 4 come thru the shop every year with the same issue. Part of the problem is with the spring and part of the problem is because of to the plastic trigger housing . A competent smith should be able to fix it
