I just bought a Beretta S686 Ultra light 12 bore over and under. Can any Beretta guys let me know what this gun is worth and any other info re; dependability etc etc. I paid 600 for it. It is new condition.

thanks Darryl

The deal was good because the previous owner had the stock shortened to a LOP of 12" for his wife. Wes at EPPS is about to return it to 14" LOP with walnut add on and a Pach recoil pad. It will cost about 200.00. I think I am still ahead. Beretta wants 550.00 for a replacement stock. That would take any fun out of the deal.
cheers Darryl

It's the same action more or less as the rest of the Beretta 680 series so it's a proven commodity. Value depends on some questions. What is the barrel length? Fixed choke or tubes? How many choke tubes came with the gun? How does the gun look with the walnut extension and Pachmayr pad? Is the top lever centered or right of center?

Regardless at the price you paid you did fine. You could part the gun out and make your money back.

The Ultralights live up to their name. They are light, kick a fair bit as a result and were never the best handling guns in my opinion but for $600 it's a steal IMHO.

Madtrapper, hang on a second. You have an opportunity to have the stock altered to fit you. I agree with the plan of adding a stock extension, but don't simply specify 14 inches, do a little work and find out what the ideal length is for you, and what kind of drop you prefer. The balance point will also change with the addition of the stock extension, and you may specify where you would like the centre of balance to be. You found a good gun at a very good price, spend the time to make the stock fit you - you will never regret it.

$600 for a like new condition is very good bargain despite it's current stock configuration......besides, one could always use target loads if recoil is a dominant factor :)

Thanks guys for the input. The gun just arrived and lo and behold the LOP is 1/8" short of 14". I called the shop and they said they thought it was shorter. With a flannel shirt and my Browning bird vest the LOP is perfect. The top lever is well to the right and the gun is just mint. It has two tubes. CYL and IMP CYL no wrench. I feel these chokes are made to order for my country grouse and wood #### at 20 to 35 yards. Any body got a wrench they want to sell?
cheers Darryl

I have an older 682EGOLD. I bought it used. The fellow could not find the
wrench, he gave me a Briley wrench that fits perfect. This will not work with
extended or optima chokes.
