I am going to be putting in an order with Brownell's for some stainelss 1911 parts. Namely a stainless slide stop, and a stainless ambi safety.

Call me fussy, or whatever you want, but I want the finish, and the colour of these two stainless parts to match eachother exactly. I don't need them to match my gun at all, just eachother. I have read all the reviews for these parts on MidwayUSA and some people have commented that some of these stainless components have slightly different finishes etc...

I am looking for the frosted stainless finish, NOT the high polished shiny stainless, and I have narrowed my choices down to either Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, or EGW (unless you can recommend another high quality brand).

Any experiences? Someone on here must have ordered these two parts in stainless at some point intending to have them match :D

PS - I need parts that are DROP-IN as I don't want to ship off the gun to have these parts installed.

edit: I forgot to ask. Is the guide rod for a Commander 1911 a different length than one for a Government 1911? Or are they the same length?

Thanks!!

The Ambi-safety will have to be fitted to the sear, it's not hard but keep in mind that almost nothing to do with 1911 parts is drop in.

Commander recoil spring guide and plug are shorter than a Gov't model.

Hmmmm.... maybe I will wait to get a new ambi safety then. I assume all ambi safetes require fitting? I know that there are a lot of 1911 parts on Brownell's that say "no fitting required". Is that BS?

Where do all of you guys get your bead blasting done?
