I am looking to buy my first precision rifle. Any recommendations on an f-class ready 308win rig that would be suited to F-tr or f-open competition pretty much straight out of the box?
I realize that mods will come soon but looking to start off running w a solid base.

yup savage are good for starters @ affortable rate with killer accruacy. cant beat that!
all u need is to shop for optics!

savage or remmy

I know guys at my club who have the savage f-class and they appear to be very good rigs. That being said i have separate recommendations to start with a remmington action and build off of that since so many gun smiths are familiar with the 700 platform.

Maybe someone else with 700 experience can chime in on that????

I just surfed 3 weeks looking for same in savage or rem , finding in stock is abit hit& miss

Ha!
Kinda funny, I had already chipped in on the Savage earlier.....
but my current rig is a 700 sps varmit in .308. I have bedded it, added a muzzle brake and free floated the barrel. I have begun reloading and am currently firing a 168gr bthp Hornady match with a 44.5gr varget at very good results... roughly .5" grouping. rifle has a "great feel, actually perfer the remmi trigger to the savage (just preference) at the factory setting of all things. Weight is around 14.5 lbs and recoil is that of a .223 (I dont think F-class allows the use of a brake....but im not into that yet)
So......thus far, very happy with the rig, cost has been reasonable, accuracy is exceptional and has a "great feel".
Rifle- 660.00
Bedding and free floating- 200.00 (done by a gunsmith)
Brake- 250.00
Eagle cheekrest/bag-50.00
Caldwell 6-13" bipod-65.00
20 moa rail- 90.00
leupold rings-35.00
Ziess 6.5-20x50 rapid z 1000- 1400.00
Total- 2750.00
Rock solid reliable, quite accurate (probably better if i could shoot!;)) reasonably priced for a semi-custom build to what I had wanted, and IMO-best bang for the buck optics.....
So all in all, very happy!
