T-star - where did you get the U22? I know it's a somewhat unusual gun, but I like the look of it, I love all things Beretta, and have been thinking about a 22 handgun....

the shooting edge, although wholesale sports also had them- both are just down the road from me, so i decided to give my money to the"smaller" dealer that sponsors us- besides, i've been a member since it opened- price was 479 sticker, with 2 mags, 502 all in- was in the market for a"better" 22 than my 948 or rinco 93- tried the ruger- way OVER PRICED, the buckmark was on the heavy side for my tastes, smith was way over priced and heavy, - i went in after doing exhaustive research on the net, tried the beretta in both flavours( 4.5 and 6 inch) and ended up taking the 4.5 home- the 6 is a little barrel heavy- and if you want you can change barrels anyway, ( no smithing involved) so it's a moot point- it shoots everyting i give it- like you i also love all things italian- esp the stuff that comes out of milan

UPDATE

Ok so after 2 days of research and youtube and reading. I have decided to break it down to 1 of the following 2 models

1. Ruger MKIII512 bull barrel blued
2. Ruger MIII4 standard blued

I want to hold both in my hand and my wife’s hand before I decide

So my question where is the best place to buy one?

P.S reason for picking ruger for those of you who are wondering
1. I AM CHEAP!!!!!!!
2. mags and parts are everywhere and cheap
3. From what I found this gun is not as picky on ammo (I like walmart :) )
4. I like accurate guns
5. Can’t afford the nicer ones like Sig and Kimbers
6. This will be my “Keep the wife busy for hours gun at the range”

I have the standard RugerIII4 that you are looking at. I really enjoy shooting it, it's fun and it's been reliable for me. One thing I do wish that it had is adjustable sights, the stock ones are fixed. I still don't regret my choice though, but it's something you might want to consider.

I was also worried about cleaning these little guns as I had heard it was difficult. Once you've taken it apart a few times, it's not that bad. There are some good videos on the internet that show you how to do it step by step.

I heard the same thing about the cleaning... and thats where I say YOUTUBE can be your best freind sometimes :)

Finding one in stock will be the problem, not the price. WSS is probably the cheapest, but they are back ordered on most Ruger pistol models. Check the site sponsors and search the pistol forum under "ruger", someone just had a thread about finding stock on a Ruger.

Well, your (final) decision was not even
in your initial choices in your first post.
You saw the light, finally.
Ruger Mk3 is the best choice IMO, but I have to admit that
from the handguns discussed in here, I didn't shoot the 226 in .22LR.

Ruger Mk3 (and 2) may be hard to take apart,
but after you do it like 10 times, everything becomes second nature.
A special kit (that eliminates
the useless feature "fire only with the mag in"
of the Mk3 22/45) would help to take the gun apart
and put it back together much easier.
Contact me if you need one of those kits.

As said above, WSS Calgary is the most likely to have that gun
or bring one for you. $335 plus tax and shipping, I think.

pc9, that's a nice holster!

Thanks for everyone's help, last night I made the purchase and the final answer was
the ruger P512MKIII from dante in montreal, with the matching holster.

+ I get a free gunsmith course when i pick it up on how to strip and clean it.

So i am hopping by Labour day the wife and i will be playing with the toy. :)

If you say you live in Montreal,
it's more likely that on Labour day
you will be playing with your... you'll see...

Maybe on Christmas day (or Easter) you will have the handgun.

Congrats for your purchase :)

Hand guns are not as bad as AR-15's in fact I thing that ar's are the only thing that takes 2 to 6 months... the good news is i already have my AR :)

so according to the SQ's(cfo) rules, once you have passed you "security check", it is valid for 1 year.... we are going to see if thats true !
