Hi all
I am looking to buy a shotgun that will mainly be used for clay pigeon shooting and maybe later on for hunting, geese, Turkey and deer.
What I definitely want is for it to come with all the different choke tubes.

My price range is under $600

I was looking at the Mossberg 500 field combo that comes with 3 barrels and all the different chokes ... seems like a good buy for the price of under 600 from a dealer on CGN.
I tried to search for this gun to see if there was any input on it but I am lucky if I get more than one link when I use the search function on here.

Is this a good shotgun or should I be looking at something different ?

Thanks

Not a bad choice. The mossberg has a tang safty which a lot of people prefer and it is a proven action and it is versitile with the different barrel combinations.

You may also want to look at a used semi such as an SX2 or an 1100. They would be within your price range if you shopped around on the EE and found a good deal.

are you set on buying new or used? remington has a reputation for being tough as nails. you can get a used 870 for a few hundred bucks barrels are cheap get what you need and itll keep you within your price range

If you search CGN or Shotgunworld Remington got bashed bad lately due to their inferior quality, they might be good 15 or 20 years ago but recently they skim on their lower price products.

For the price range you willing to spend you might get an express 870 with plastic trigger guard etc.

If you are looking for Mossberg check this out:

Scot is a stand up guy and last time he talked me out not to buy his gun due to he thought the gun might not suitable for my need!

Thanks guys

I would prefer used since its cheaper and as long as the gun has been looked after then there is no difference between a used and new gun imo ... but if there is only a $150 or so difference then I will rather buy new

How is the Benelli Nova compared to the Mossberg and Remington ?

I have remington, browning and mossberg pumps. Nothing wrong at all with the mossberg other than a rattly forearm which threy have had since I can remember.
That being said for almost the same bucks I would purchase the 535 camo combo to get the 3 1/2" chamber. Not that you may want it but they are much easier to sell and keep more value over a 3" if you ever decide to sell it.

If lets say a new Gun cost $600 before taxes ... what would be a good price for a second hand one that is one year old and in very good condition ?
Lets say a Benelli Nova or Mossberg or Remington .. not crazy expensive guns

I am just trying to figure out the cost of used vs new ... if there is only a $100 difference in price I would much rather buy a brand new gun imo

Benelli has features up the a$$ compared to mossberg and rem. I prefer the Supernova's trigger group as its alot bigger and has plenty of room for shooting with gloves. IMO there isnt much comparison, rem and mossberg are trusted old school designs, Benelli is much more modern and upgraded. I'm not liking all the bad reviews coming from guys who bought new remingtons, seems they are trading QC with the chinese. Mossberg is still building good shotguns. Cheap: Mossberg. 12 ga. Cadillac: Benelli. just my opinion

Around here on the EE most people selling are trying to get over the real msrp for used guns.

I just dont get that ! It seems you need to check the EE every 10 min because the good deals are gone as soon as they go up ... the rest just gets bumbed week after week because they are selling used guns for not much less then what a new gun cost.
If a new one cost only $50 more than a one year old used gun then i see no reason why to buy a used gun.
I have seen guys trying to sell used guns for more money than what it will cost new ... makes no sense.
