Hey guys
Stevens goldwing 512 12ga or should i go with Condor supreme delux 12ga, these are the only two choices i have and i would appericiate any help.

i know! a lot of bad stuff i heard about Goldwing 512 as well, unfortunately those are the only two choices i have, im using it for ocassional trap shooting, i probably put about 1000 round a year, so no heavy use, the condor will cost me 40 bucks more,i've hard alot of negative things about 512 specially with firing pin, i was wondering if anyone has a personal experience with any of these guns.

wow are u guys telling me that condor and goldwing are that bad, it seems like no one had any positive thing to say about em

The trouble is that all double guns built at a low price range will come with some "caveats" - therefore, let's just say that your purchase risk will be comparatively much much lower if you chose not to acquire the models you had visualized initially. :)

Very good advice. O/U's are truly an item where you get what you pay for. In addition to the people who report problems with cheap guns look around the gun clubs and see how many of them are for sale with low round counts. There's a reason for that.

If it were me, and I was on a budget, I would be looking at a used gun, not new. You will get far more for your dollar and be happier in the long run. Look for a gently used Browning or Beretta and you will find a gun that will give you a lifetime of service. There are other makes that will serve just as well, but those will be the most common ones you will encounter.

They're my only picks because I was getting a good deal on them, I thought since I put around 1000 rounds through the gun every year, they might be good for few years before I can upgrade to better O/U.

Mossberg makes the Maverick Over/Under.

Only $400. Not fancy. But probably functional.

I think ill wait for awhile before I buy an O/U, but for now I want a decent shotgun for trap shooting, I was thinking about benelli nova 12ga 28in, is this shotgun a good choice for trap, how about the quality? Sorry guys for all the questions but I'm kinda new to the sport.

I have a Condor. Its fine,. I wouldnt be worried about wearing it out. I also own a Citori which is a much nicer shotgun. For someone just starting out, the Condor will work. Honestly Ive had more issues with Remington 870's than the old Condor. Its heavy, which is nice for trap but sucks for hunting.

It takes quality parts to make a quality O/U. Anything much less than 2k gets you garbage. Cheap O/U are famous for FTF.

The Nova is a well made field model pump gun that may be used for trap as well....the Browning BPS will also be another great candidate if you may be leaning towards a slide action.

Gun fit would be the first question to address though.....

Should the purchase be with an intent to shoot trap occasionally....then the Baikal MP-18 Sporting (single shot) will be a good candidate as that has actually been designed for Trap shooting and not expensive either. The Baikal is a well made firearm.

Suggest take a trip to Gagnon @ Oshawa and handle one.

Not necessarily....moreover, that statement may leave a lot to be desired when one has witnessed a B, P or K etc guns break down as well.

Well - You can also consider a Baikal - probably a better choice than the two you are looking at. You also need to refine your needs - ie establish whether you need a single selective trigger, fixed or screw in chokes, etc. For example, if you are only going to shoot trap, then full chokes are all thats needed. Most older fixed choke O/U's are full/full or full/modified. On the other hand, if you are going to shoot skeet, then you want open chokes. If you want to do both...
