Need help choosing between 1911s

Selling my core 9mm since I just haven't had a chance to get to a competition which is why I bought it. Always wanted a 1911 so now it's the time. Price range is up to max 1500. Prefer to stay 1300 and under.

Commander size is also a want but not totally necessary. I have it whittled down to three so far, don't be afraid to offer suggestions for others or what you think of these three.

Of all my 1911's the SAM Commander-E is the best shooter and it cost a lot less than any of the others.
My other 1911's have the GI sights which could account for some of the inaccuracy.

 
I have three 1911's:

Sam Tactical Commander
Norinco 1911
Colt Combat Elite 1911 (pre enhanced)

Of all the three, love the colt. I initially had my reservations with a series 80 pistol but the trigger is so light.

Full size has less muzzle flip, comparing both commander and full size gov't model.

However, you can't beat the price on the SAM.

Norinco, need to have one in your collection @ $299, can't be beat. Metal is hard on it.
 
I have a sam titan and love it. Also have a norc gov't which I worked on. It's a good gun , but they need to be refinished. Dad has a thunderbolt, and after firing it a few times, the only upgrade I'd consider is a les baer.
 
Of the three you listed, the STI would be the best. I'm not a fan of the two tone color schemes, but that's a personal opinion. I actually was going to get the Ruger SR1911 as my first pistol last year, but couldn't find it anywhere. I went to my backup at the time of a S&W SW1911.

All three are going to be good reliable guns, but the SR1911's front sights have been known to fail/fall off due to MIM production. I don't know if the newer production runs have fixed this.

To this day I still LOVE the look of the Ruger SR1911

I too like the looks of a standard SR1911. They also look great with a simple grip changeout. Another option has presented itself and working on the deal now, hopefully I get it for the price I want.

Of the three I listed, I liked the finish on the R1 the best, plus it has a tritium sight and is well reviewed.
The ruger is a full 25 percent lighter with it's alloy frame, and is cheaper so I could afford to put night sights, grips etc if I wanted.
The STI from what I read is just better built, but read that the finish isn't as nice.
 
Of the three..... personally, I'd go with the Ruger.

* don't care for the firing pin block safety junk in the Rem.
* don't care for the bull barrel [no traditional barrel bushing] in the STI [STI would be my second choice, though].

That SAM commander is worth a serious look, too. [Although not one of the original choices].

Just personal preference though more than anything. Bet all three would be great shooters.

I jumped on this one, it was a good price, and another member on here has one and likes it so, that helped sway my decision. It must have been over my price threshold at most places which is why I missed it the first time.

I only have one short 1911 a Sig Carry Nightmare Bobtail, it hold itself against my Colt Gold Cup and my Dan Wesson Valor, full reliable to... It is one of the best looking pistol of my herd... JP.:cool:

My pick would be an STI in that price range, but if I had the money for it a Nighthawk would be on my list as well. My pal has one and it is by far the nicest shooting 1911 Ive ever used.
 
Now if we are talking of the nicest, cant avoid my Les Baer Premier ll, this is a shooting marvel... JP.:dancingbanana:
