Hi there,
So I'm about to get my restricted license and I would like a semi auto pistol. Being ex British Army I'd love a Browning Hi Power 9mm...........but they are expensive. Being a 007 fan I'd like a H&K VP9 - but who sells them and how much??
Being ex military I'd prefer a combat type pistol in 9mm, but which one and who has them available at the best prices?
Lots to choose from too:
Sig Saur P226 Navy
Cz75
Beretta M9
Help please guys.
Once I decide I'm quite impulsive and buy quickly without wanting to wait or have a backorder problem. Used - there's a thought.
BTW - nothing fancy - just black !!
Cheers

My buddy just bought a Girsan clone of the Beretta 92. VERY nice pistol and reasonably priced. I think there are some Browning and Inglis Hi-Powers for sale in the Equipment Exchange, so if you're not yet a member of the forum, I urge you to join. Lot's of luck, from an ex Canadian Military member.

How does it go? Buy once, cry once...

I love my CZ, but I should never have sold my T-series High Power.

It depends on if you like single action or double action? I think the action on the CZ was purposely designed so that you could drop the hammer (the decocker models drop the hammer to the safety notch) with a live round in the chamber and still be able to fire the pistol? This would have to be a very delicate operation and I'm really not sure if people would carry it like this. With the firing pin block and the manual safety there is probably no need.

The High Power has a bit better finish (compared to the CZ powder coat) so you are paying for aesthetics.

Good Luck with your decision.

Shot HP in the army (canadian), but they were crap old loose pistols. So I cannot really judge what a new one would do for me.
Got a Beretta 92FS, sold it. I found it bulky for a 9mm, to big for my hands, fixed sights not good for me either.

It boils down to trying different models. I know it is not always easy, depending on what store you have close to you, but you have to handle the pistol (and preferably shoot it if you can!) to really know. Ex. I got a PPQ, loved it but could not shoot it well, it just does not "fit" my hand. Sold it. Tried other models and I have better results.

So find a store that will let you fondle the models you want, or go to the range and make friends! At my range if you ask nicely and talk the #### a bit with the guys, they will let you try a couple rounds 80% of the time.

Nic.

Cz shadow.....tiz awesome.....however, I just bought a hi-power on 'ee' ...so I'll find out how good they are..

I say - flip a coin and let the gun gods figure it out!

That Browning HP is chock full of romance, nostalgia and good looks (much like Yours Truly). They shoot darn fine too!

But by Godfrey, those CZ's? They shoot like a dream too AND they are reasonably priced. They aren't as handsome as the Hi Power in my scholarly opinion - but they are a better choice for most practical pistol shooting. I would start out with a bone stock CZ75 and shoot the daylights out of it...and then - when The Mrs. isn't looking...maybe sneak a Hi Power into the gun safe under the radar. It's always prudent to have a back up pistol dontchyaknow...
