Need help choosing..............please.

My buddy just bought a Girsan clone of the Beretta 92. VERY nice pistol and reasonably priced. I think there are some Browning and Inglis Hi-Powers for sale in the Equipment Exchange, so if you're not yet a member of the forum, I urge you to join. Lot's of luck, from an ex Canadian Military member.

X2 here. I've been very happy with my Girsan also.

Hi guys,
Some good advice there. I live between Lethbridge and Calgary................(Redneck bible belt country - I hear ya).
Glock 17 is starting to appeal after much reading and research. Open minded till the end. CZ do I want to support the old Warsaw Pact.............lol.
I am a member and closely watch the EE.
Cheers

I have all 3 of your main choices, HiPower, CZ75B and Girsan (92FS clone).... all are fine pistols.
If you want to fine tune your pistol yourself, CZ 75B offers the most available parts.
the Beretta and clones have an issue with built in front sights (I like fiber optic sights),
the HiPower parts and spares are way too expensive.... so to the old adage of buy once and cry once, with the HiPower you cry everytime you need to buy a part or spare.

My point of view, hope that helps

CZ Shadowline, love the look of the non full dustcover.
CZ P09. May not have as good of trigger but reviews say they shoot very well.

Watch tons of hickock45 videos of the guns you like to learn more about them. Then go and handle them in person.

At the risk of sounding sacrilegious, I would recommend against the BHP. Disclosure: I've owned one for the last 25 years.
The gun is heavy, not super accurate, expensive and the new Mk.IIIs have the crappiest trigger I have ever had the displeasure to try. The weird double thumbshelf grips aren't too sh$t hot either! You need to remove the dumb mag disconnect safety to even smooth out the trigger slightly. Now that you're out of the army, treat yourself with something modern! Nostalgia can only carry you so far!
Like others said, if you want a metal gun, go with the Beretta or CZ. If you don't want a "Commie" gun, get a 1911 in 9mm. If you want polymer, Glock, Walther, HK, S&W, Arsenal. SIGs with the SRT triggers are also top notched!

The best thing is to try them all out. Go into your LGS, hopefully with a large and varied selection, hold and handle all of them. Buy the one that gives you the biggest woodie! Done!

Great suggestions here so far. I'm not a huge handgun guy but have picked up a few things from other guys.

Sig makes excellent handguns, they are sometimes a little on the expensive side but you get a great pistol and have some of the best sights

The CZ P07 "Duty" early batches had major fit and finish issues, missing paint, crummy sights, they have fixed a lot of this now and they do have a good trigger.

I'd suggest you take a look at the Walther CCP its a really tight little gun, great sights, they put the mag release in the right spot instead of the silly trigger guard release they used to have. The feel is wonderful a personal fav if you can find one.

You cannot go wrong with a Glock they are great. The Glock 26 Gen 4 had some early issues with Magpul double stack magazines, the 43's are really popular I like the 41's with a long slide chambered in .45 they just feel right.

Smith & Wesson makes a Pro Series M+P core, it has an RMR style cut on the top with high sights, just a wonderful gun and worth a look.

Maybe get something standing a bit out as your first black handgun: H&K P30L V1 LEM. It has the most amazing DA/SA trigger (but only the V1). It's on my list.

Thanks for all your input.
BHP - was just a nostalgic thought as it was my personal weapon for a few years on CR1.
Not a huge choice in Lethbridge WSS............doing my research on line mostly.
Lots of plus's with the Smith & Wesson Model M&P Pistol.
Cheers
