Need help deciding on a primer system.....

I wet tumble brass with pins and the clean pockets make a nice easy seating on my press. I don't see the need to prime separately?

it's way faster to do it seperately if you are doing large batches. Hand primers you can sit down and prime a thousand brass after dinner watching the Televisor :)

I bought one of those from Westernmetal. Great folks to deal with and quick shipping.

I like mine but I had to mount it onto a base. I used a piece of aluminum 1cm plate I had laying around but a piece of plywood will do. I also had to do a bit of judicious filing on the infeed tray. The plastic had casting imperfections which caused the primers to hang up. A bit of sandpaper or a nail file will do.

I also have the RCBS hand held unit. I don't particularly like it. It seems to be built for a left handed person.

I really like the Lee hand held primer unit the best but I have a bit of arthritis in my right hand. It's the reason I went to the Lee bench prime.

That right there. The bench version is phenomenal.

Agreed. The RCBS Bench Priming Tool (non APS model) is absolutely awesome for bulk priming off of a press. Even for small batches, it's a very fast system once you get a rhythm going (like anything else repetitive with reloading.)

As an added bonus, those of us who own a hornady lock n load AP press can use the same pick up tubes to feed this tool while priming (dillon and other pickup tubes may work but I have only tried this with Hornady ones.)

I too use and have used for 30 years the RCBS bench mounted priming tool........good seating feel and real fast when you get your co-ordination keyed up to work at production speed. Mine is ancient and still does a flawless job.

Well after 4 months of trying almost everything out there Lee bench is by far my first choice. Stationary mounting has let me prime faster and with less time reaching, centering, and shaking primers into place. Handhelds are fine for a few but seating was not consistent with plinking or random brass loading. Sucks you have to buy there shell holders but when running 9mm or 223 nothing even came close. I can keep 2 RCBS Charge Masters running full out on 9mm and they can almost keep up on 223. Lee Bench Prime is my favorite!! Thanks for all the help and info everyone.

Follow up to this site after about 3000 primers loaded Lee is done, completely worn out and plastic parts sloppy or broken. I am looking again, anything new out there or anyone have any new experiences?

i use a hand held one for small pistol stuff but am planning to get the new lee bench mount primer for my large rifle/pistol stuff to make things easier on my hands.

Bought one of these and I would not recommend it.
I use an older Lee auto prime and have had no problems. More that 10,000 primers.
